It's about damn time!

-*- THIS DSF INHOUSE TOURNAMENT IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LETTER "F", FOR FUCKED IN THE HEAD; WHICH YOU ARE RICKY! -*-

The basic concept of this is to create a team for DSF that will participate in TDA Pickuplistchecker Events.

TEAM DSF WILL CONSIST OF SEVEN MEMBERS:

5 Permanent members
2 Substitute members

***FORMAT FOR THE TOURNAMENT***

12 Man/6 teams round robin (or more if we receive more applicants)

TEAMS OF 3V3 (with 1 or 2 referees)
MODE WILL BE -RDOM

**For those of you who are unfamiliar with RD**
RD is Random Draft where 2 random taverns are generated and players draft in this format:
1 sentinel picks
2 scourge picks
1 sentinel pick
**** When creating a game players must be in the first 2 slots of each team or this screws up the draft order****

Me and Renovatio have discussed the tournament and Since we will be a team, it seems
counter-productive to have a 1v1 tournament. RD is balanced for the 3v3 scenario.

AFTER 6 teams complete the round robin the top 4 teams will advance to a playoff series of
Single Elimination.

***UPDATE***
The 4 team top 8 will be a double-blind tournament. This means that 1st and 2nd play eachother, the winner advances to the finals, the loser then fights the WINNER of the 3rd and 4th place match. The winner of that match
goes to the finals as well.

Out of the top 8 playoff Standings:
the top 4 players will automatically receive permanent slots onto the team.
1 member in the top 8 will receive a permanent slot onto the team via REFEREE scorecard
2 members will be awarded substitute positions via referee scorecard.
1 unfortunate player will not receive a slot (but don't fret! Members will be able to challenge slots on TEAM DSF at a later date.)

REFEREES:
Referees will analyze the match and Rank players from 4-1 based on their performance in the match.
Referees will Judge performance using the following criteria:
Lane control (Kills,Denies,Kiting, agroing)
Character control
Teamwork
Effective pushing/defending
Effective Ganking/Saving

The top player of a game gets 4 points on their REF scorecard. The Bottom gets 1 point.

At the end of the tournament Referees will award 1 Permanent slot
and 2 Substitute slots to Members who have the highest REF points and placed 5th through 8th.
**ANY tie breakers and there will be a 1v1 on -apom mode.**

The tournament will not be held in one day, rather both teams will agree on a time/date and if any of the 4 players are absent then then
the match shall be postponed.(to a reasonable limit)

I will make this thread the signup sheet as well. Post here if you are applying and I will edit this post to reflect it.

We've decided it's unfair for us to not let people pick their own teams. The last thing we want is a bunch of people
getting into arguments about their team so if we let members select their partners its on their head not ours.
Pick your team mate, If you cannot find anyone/don't care who you go with let us know and we will find you a partner.

Come on guys we need more people. Sign up and have a good time don't worry about loosing your not out of the clan lol it just means the shamans and more experinced players will practice with you more until you are ready for tda/clan scrims.

Its not necessarily fair for people to pick their parters because 2 good players > 1 good player and one average player. Also, do we have to play in 2v2's? IMO DotA is made as a 5v5 game and 2v2 simply depends on the hero you get (because of the certain heroes that own 2v2....).

the problem is we don't have enough people to 5v5 tournyies or even have a 5v5 inhouse

in the spirit of fairness wouldn't we want our best players to be on the team in the first place?
We have a lot of good players, but even still, i wouldn't want the best players to carry or get pulled down by their random partners and have us make a team with say 3 Great players and 2 good players while 2 more Great players got the shaft b/c they didn't function well with their partners.
Then we get into scenarios where guys are bitter at their teammates for not making the team b/c it was a random pull and we start a rift in the clan.

Just my 2 cents

I think the 2v2's aren't a bad idea because they force the focus of the game on lane control and, as a clan, we're not as used to non-easy-mode games as we probably should be. Of course, if I'm in a matchup in which I have Tinker/Zeus against two weak agi heros, I wouldn't be opposed to remake the game in the interest of a balanced set of heros which would replicate "realgame" experience.

This scenario is unlikely at best. And even in the event that some "great player" doesn't make it on the team, that person would always be able to appeal to Matt to get added.

I definitely think we should make it random. There isn't a single person on DSF that I would be disappointed to lane with.

Another suggestion I have: 2 + 3 computer vs 2 + 3 computer. Obviously, the computers don't actually pick heros, but this limits your starting gold to what it would be in a normal 5v5 -rd game instead of giving you an inflated set of early game items.

Uhhhhhh..... I hate limited starting gold, takes the fun out of it. Razz

Are we going to do -rd or -apxl?

Tournament will start either this weekend or next week, so make sure to sign up if you haven't. Start posting the team you are in. Remember that now teams are of 3 players. In case we get more sign ups we will increase team size to 4.

Well I can't do it this weekend because I'm out of town this saturday and sunday. I'm US Central Time, just so you know. 3v3 seems quite reasonable, but I'll still play 2v2.
